The Tyne is the premier Salmon river in England and we have a stunning stretch of the North Tyne.  Positioned upstream from Countess Park and downstream from the junction pool of the River Rede, our single bank fishing is within easy walking distance of the house (200 m) and is proving very productive.  Kielder releases prolong the fishing action, so please acquaint yourself with release times. www.tynereleasekielder.co.uk

Fishing is available from Monday to Friday and is included in the price of the cottage.  It may also be possible to fish at weekends at an extra cost.  Only cottage residents may fish.

There is fishing for one rod only, but spinning is allowed if the river is too high or low.  The wading is relatively easy but a wading stick is essential.  When the river is in spate, no wading is permitted.  An inflatable jacket is desirable.

Other fishing can be rented locally either through Fishpal or the Riverdale Hotel in Bellingham. All EA rules for the North Tyne apply and a Salmon and Sea Trout licence is a legal requirement and you should bring this with you. The season starts on 1st February and ends 31st October.  No Salmon or Sea Trout can be taken before 16th June.

Only 5 miles from the cottage, Sweethope Lough is a picturesque trout lake where boats can be hired. www.sweethope.co.uk
